So Sascha & I have determined that Sophia is way ahead of her age cognitively. We checked her developmental milestones and she is way ahead of the pack. She is super SCARY smart and does milestones for a 20 month old! We've even started spelling out words around her in conversation because she knows exactly what we are talking about and will start to fuss if she hears something she wants. She's only 14 1/2 months old and she can already count "one-two-three-four-five" (although she frequently misses the 3 in sequence) and she even says part of the alphabet. She will sit in her playroom and just start counting her balls while she throws them in a container. She even can distinguish her right leg & hand from her left and already knows lots of opposites. ie. hot-cold, up-down, left-right, apart-together, open -close, big-small, high-low, in-out, stop-go. We've seriously lost track of all the words she says. They say babies her age know 2 words really well and she knows about 100 of them. She even has started engaging in pretend play with her dolls. She will clap their hands and say "clap-clap" or tap their toes while saying "tap-tap". She even feeds her dolls and says "yumm-yumm" and makes them dance or wave hi. She LOVES books, music and dancing and the bookstore has become one of her favorite places to go. She already has a library collection of books and knows each one by name. We ask her to go get a particular book and she just goes and gets the one we ask for. She even will tell us part of the title. My personal favorite is when she says "BRAVO" and claps when she is proud of herself for eating her vegetables. I cannot imagine how much more she will know when she is 2 years old. It's really quite scary.......
